Barack Obama Endorses Chaz Beasley for NC House District 92
Today, President Barack Obama endorsed Chaz Beasley in his race for North Carolina House District 92. Beasley is among a select group of state legislative candidates from around the country to be endorsed by Obama. North Carolina’s District 92 encompasses the western portion of Mecklenburg County, including parts of Charlotte, Huntersville, and Pineville.
This contest has caught national attention due to Beasley’s strong support for public education as well as his commitment to equality for every member of our community.
“We are thrilled that Barack Obama is endorsing our candidates in some of the most competitive races across the country,” said Jessica Post, Executive Director of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. “His endorsement highlights how crucial state legislative elections are to building on the progress Obama has achieved and to continuing to move our nation forward.”
“I’m honored to receive President Obama’s endorsement today,” said Beasley. “This race is about the future of North Carolina and I’m grateful to have the President in my corner.”
Born and raised in the foothills of North Carolina, Beasley grew up in a low-income, single parent home. He attended North Carolina’s public schools and graduated with honors from Harvard. Beasley then went on to earn his law degree at Georgetown.
Currently, Beasley works as an attorney in the finance industry. He lives in Steele Creek with his fiancée Whitney, and his future stepdaughter, Maddison.
